Hello everyone, I recently bought an Alienware 18 laptop equipped with two GTX 970m in SLI and I would like to upgrade them to GTX 980m in SLI. Before you tell me it's a waste of money / time or call me an Alienware fanboy, let me stop you first and let you know that a) one of my clients got me the maxed out Alienware for 40% off so I figured why pay more for an ASUS ROG Laptop with less performance and b) I have my own personal reasons for wanting to upgrade and I don't really want opinions on that part.

I would just like to know if this is possible. On eBay there are GTX 980m upgrade cards for around $750 each, but I do not know if they just work or if there will be incompatibilities. Here's the link:

And here's the Alienware 18 I have (it's the one on the far right):

Solution
Yes, It's defiantly possible. However the PSU may be to small but that is unlikely considering you currently have a 970M. I know people who have done it. Just make sure to take the CMOS battery out or you could damage the laptop.

*Also note you will void ANY warranty on the laptop. *
