Alienware M15X screen won't work until plugged in

My alienware M15X laptop work usually works fine, but when I try to power it on without the charging cable connected, all the lights on the keyboard and the back turn on, but the screen stays black. The problem is that as soon as I plug in the charging cable it INSTANTLY begins to work, and it from then on works forever no matter whether or not it is plugged in.

You may need to run a test with your battery just to be on the safe side. There's usually a pre-installed software that test mostly the components of your laptop. If an error persist during the test with your battery I suggest you call the manufacturer right away.
