All power settings maxed yet laptop still lags when unplugged and gaming

Hi, this is my first time posting but thanks in advanced for any replys. Im running a decent gaming laptop. 17" cyberpowerpc running dual gtx 765's, i7-4700, 16gb ram. It runs everything perfectly even on high settings while plugged in however it seems as soon as I unplug it, its like im running on a quarter of the pc. I have all advanced power settings set as they should be, cpu min @ 100% etc. I'm at a loss as to why I cant figure this out. Im running widows 8 as well. I'm also sorry if im posting in the wrong spot or not giving enough info.
