All scroll bars drift down

On a Gateway NV53 with Win 7 64 bit, the volume control and all other scroll bars drift down to the bottom as soon as I click on it. Any ideas on what causes this??

Probably stuck touchpad button. Disable it and try it again with an external mouse.

We never use the touchpad, we always use an external trackball. I will try to find and disable the touchpad, though. Thanks.

touchpad disabling & updating trackball drivers did not help. The volume slider tracks downward unassisted. All other scroll bars zoom to the end as soon as they are on the screen. Anyone????????????????

It might be your keyboard. Check the following keys. Ctrl or Down arrows. Make certain there are not stuck or have gunk under them.
