sorry to ask but, what is a powered subwoofer? And where would i plug the subwoofer into?

a powered subwoofer as the name implies has a power cord and a built in amplifier, most three piece computer speakers will come with a powered subwoofer, and as it is a system it will have only one plug for all three speakers. which subwoofer are you talking about? model or serial number would help.

I have not found a likable sub yet. What would you recommend with a 80-$110 budget for a PC subwoofer?

you will need a computer speaker system that comes with a subwoofer. I can't tell you what will sound good to you. my advise is go to some stores and listen to some speakers. reviews tell you a lot but your ears can tell you more.
