Hello, everyone.

I need to buy a laptop for school and I do a little bit of gaming on the side. My budget is $400. I've narrowed down my search to two laptops (but I'm more than willing to accept suggestions)

These are the two:
AMD: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ALDLZ8G

Intel: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B019X2IE3K

I don't play very modern or demanding games, I only ask for at least stable 30fps on low, preferably medium settings: Garry's Mod, Team Fortress 2, CS:GO, Vindictus, Minecraft, Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Can you all help me decide what's better? I know that there are some of you who are more technologically intelligent than I am.

The i5-5020u with the Intel HD 5500 is overall better for games. Click link below for some game benchmarks. Only CS:GO from your list is benchmarked; scroll all the way to the right...

Fallout 3 & New Vegas (as well as the Elder Scroll series) traditionally runs better on Intel CPUs because they have more powerful cores. I installed FO3 on a friend's laptop with a Core i5-4200u and Intel HD 4400, it can pretty much run FO3 on mostly medium settings (shadows disabled) and 1600x900 resolution with at least 30 FPS and peaks at 50 FPS. You will need the following file to play Bethesda's FO3 & FO:NV and Elder Scrolls games beginning with Oblivion. It is a d3d9.dll file that was originally designed to allow gamers with only DX8.1 graphic cards to play Oblivion. It was part of the "Oldbivion" project since Oblivion was the very first DX9 game to be released.

The reason is because the above mentioned games do not officially support Intel HD graphic cores. The d3d9.dll makes those game think that there is an old nVidia GPU in you laptop / desktop so that you can play the game with Intel HD graphic cores.

Thank you. I saw the benchmark for CS:GO and considering it uses a newer version of the Source engine, I figured that the benchmark would be even better for some of the older Source games - your test with Fallout 3 also helps sell it for me.
