okay, i have pulled a x3 450 cpu out of a spare computer out of the house, and i unlocked it. When opening cpu-z, or the windows dxdiag, it lists it as a amd phenom x4 B50 cpu. but it still has 3 cores. what did i do wrong?
Sometimes that happens. What you have is a denab die that had a core defective. In order to make money off the silicon they locked the core and sold it as an athlon x3. At least you have the l3 cache which will help performance some.
Is this after the reformat? Pretty sweet that you unlocked the l3 cache. How many threads does it show in task manager?
nope, did not work. i think i found the problem though.. in the bios setting, i have a asus board btw, under advanced clock calibration, the 4th core is set to off o_o but whenever i put it on, it tells me "unleashing mode failed." how could this happen when i unlocked the l3 cache?
