So...

I have a Optoma projector....a pioneer VSX-LX51 receiver and a Panasonic SC-HTB448... and the beginnings of a migraine trying to connect and get any sound! The projector speaker works fine.. I’ve bought every cable curry’s can offer... in need of some guidance!! And help greatly appreciated.. (receiver was a gift - don’t know how to work the thing)...

Solution
Connect the sources to the AVR..
Connect the AVR HDMI out to the projector.
Connect a speaker to line level converter to the front L/R speaker terminals of the receiver.
Connect the converter to the aux input of the soundbar.
Set up the receiver for stereo with no subwoofer. You should set the volume of the receiver and use the soundbar remote to control the volume. If you use the receiver to control volume you could overload the input causing massive distortion,
You are really just using the receiver as an HDMI input selector. You could build a better system around it by adding passive speakers and an better active subwoofer later.
