Analog Toshiba TV to panasonic digital soundbar

I want to connect a new soundbar (Panasonic SC-HTB498) to a much older Toshiba TV that has no digital output.

I have been advised that I can use the headphone plug on the TV (3.5mm jack) and get a converter that will work with either the HDMI or digital optical inputs on the soundbar.

If anyone can advise me exactly what I need to buy I will be very grateful!

If the TV volume is set to high you will overload the ADD and hear distortion.
The output of the ADD is fixed volume.
