they mean touch only. G1 is touch/keyboard with primary input by keyboard

ian is probably right about the distinction. There's no touch-screen keypad for the G1. Nothing more annoying than getting the old "Please open your keypad to enter the information" message.

Although, the new Steel webbrowser has its own touch keypad, and sensor-based Portrait-to-Landscape switchovers (i.e. tilting the phone as opposed to opening the keypad). Wish more apps did that.
