Aol desktop not working

My AOL desktop 9.6 "stoped working" with MS Windows. I scanned & found no viruses. I uninstalled AOL 9.6, and then downloaded 9.7. But I STILL get the "stopped working" message. I've been at this all day, and I'm no further ahead. Iwould like to get my AOL desktop back (9.6 OR 9.7); I "saved" my email in the uninstall process, I hope I haven't lost it.

I've searched the internet for possible solutions, and tried about 4 or 5, but none has worked.

have you recently added or removed any hardware or software? What has changed since AOL desktop stopped working? Have you contacted AOL support about the issue?
