Apple Cedits Buyers for iPhone Activation Issues

Guess apple isn't hurting on money if they can give all the 3GS users $30. Of course, I'd expect they have some money lying around with their well known markups. That being said, the 13.3" MBP with an applied student discount and free iPod touch is a very exceptional deal (after I put windows on it of course).
 
I had a horrible time getting my iphone 3g s to sync with itunes under Windows Me. What a nightmare!
 
AT&T decided to have my account become past due that day and not give notice until 10am, when I was at the apple store trying to purchase at 8am. That was all AT&T needed to say that my account didn't qualify for the discount on my phone, regardless that my phone was 2 years old and was out of contract. Pretty sneaky on AT&T part. Then I called them and they said I did qualify but because my account was past due, it wasn't. WHICH IS IT? That was extreme BS on AT&T's part. Hell, the apple store even gave me issues when I asked them to let me use a phone just to deal with this matter. I was surrounded by phones and they had to check to see if it was okay for me to use a phone? Do you want to sell me a phone? Very horrible experience trying to buy the new phone. After having to make not just one payment but two payments, because the first payment wasn't seen in AT&T's system, I finally qualified for the discounted Iphone price. Such hell! I finally did get my Iphone, but at the cost of my bank account going in the negative with NSF fees. Thanks AT&T and also Apple for not supporting your customer from your provider. Apple should seriously rethink their partnership with AT&T. I've been with AT&T for 12 years. You would hope I wouldn't be treated this way.
 
joenumo... that you would risk your financial status to get a freaking phone... speaks volumes... i'm sure you're not the only idiot.. so i guess you can't feel too bad about it...
 
the title incorrect spell credit.. other then that I had apple and ATT, I don't want to give them the money for the it but GF want the iPhone so I have no choice... I will never give them my money if it was me
 
I got in the store at opening and was activated in less than a few minutes, itunes has been slow for me though at home. Probably a different issue, but then again their servers are trying to balance a large load. They should try using a Windows Server or Linux...
 
Apple's third iPhone release and they still haven't fixed their activation issues. At this point, it looks like giving each new customer $30 was cheaper than upgrading their system for this momentary influx. Good to see customer experience is of the utmost importance for Apple.

Mine went off without a hitch! In and out in about 10 minutes, and I had to cancel a line AND upgrade mine. Phone worked out the door.

And to Joenumo, You are the moron that didn't pay his bill! Would a bank offer you a new loan if you weren't payed up on the one you have now? Not a chance! Why would AT&T sign a new contract with you and give you a discounted phone if you are behind on your bill?

I've been with AT&T for 8 years and have no real complaints. Maybe it's just the people at my local store but they have always been helpful and never try to push me into an expensive phone I didn't want or need.
