The tail on the 6.1 is just a darker section caused by the photographer shadow ;-)

Well, I meant by the light source making a section brighter... making it appear at 1st glance that there might be a black tail on the left of the sensor section part of the notch.

You can see his full shadow in the picture and it doesn't even come close to the top of the photo !!!! It is bad photography, should have used a different background.. It will keep us talking about the Phone and that's really the point isn't it...
