So I've started doing some architectural visualisation for some people recently, and now I find myself with plenty of work to do.

However, as I'm doing mostly landscape work on 3ds Max, the number of trees etc. and therefore polygons is reaching very high levels quickly, and my current card (an Ati Radeon 4870x2) is stuttering and struggling to cope.

So my question is, will it be worth my while to go out and buy a firepro v4800/5800 to replace this gaming card?

And is there anywhere I can see a clear cut comparison of how these cards will fare, compared to a 4870x2 so I can judge if it's worthwhile?

What are the rest of your system specs?

The 4870 should not be too bad with what you are doing. Although the drivers are not optimized like the pro cards would be, it had plenty of power.

Try suffering through a month, month and a half, and buy a 5000 series card once the price drops.... Also consider updating drivers... Hang is right.
