Recently bought an Acer Apsire ES1-711, which came pre-installed with Windows 8.1.
I'm currently trying to load Windows 10 onto it, using an image I know to work well as its the image I used for my current system.
I've tried installing twice, both times it seems to do a successful install, but when booting, it freezes on the screen with the rotating dots.
Any assistance appreciated.

Update, Windows 8.1 image does the exact same thing.

Update: Fixed! I disabled something like "check for malware on boot" in the Win8.1 recovery settings.

Solution
harrison_baillie, did you get the problem resolved as per your 1st post edit? why did you use another pc image instead of using a win10 iso downloaded from ms?

As I've now used two images for two different OS's, I'm guessing the issue is with the system itself.
The drive is formatted as NTFS if that helps.

The ES1-711 had known issues with loading Windows 10. To help source an issue I thought using an 8.1 image (the most frequently used OS for that system as loaded by Acer) would help isolate the issue; rather than using an OS that is known to falter with that specific laptop model.

(Picked as a solution bc I couldn't find a way to mark it as solved by myself)
