Asus laptop lags/semi-freezes when downloading at high speed (AC WiFI)

Hi Guys,

I recently got the chance to set up this laptop (https/www.asus.com/Notebooks/ROG-GL552VX/specifications/) which has been a major pain in the ass to set up. Leaving aside the fact that it's made to work mostly/only with Windows 10 (no support for other drivers) which pretty much gives blue screens all the time even with the latest updates installed, there is one major issue that I can't really pinpoint - so would be hoping someone might know about this and could help me out.

Basically, let's say I'm running a youtube video and a start a test @ speedtest.net with AC WiFI on, when the test gets at 300-400Mb download speed the sound starts to lag, become sluggish and robotic, and windows moves like you would run something at 3 FPS. This happened for a normal download as well.

First I said it might be the HDD, although I never had any similar issue with 7200RPM HDD on my desktop PC but then remembered that speedtest.net actually runs the test in Memory. What I did was:

- I ran the windows memory diagnostics (no issues found)
- Reinstalled/repaired Lan&Wifi driver
- Reinstalled audio driver

I'm not really sure what to do next. Besides this, Win 10 constantly gives me "page fault in non paged area" blue screens even though I've disabled virtual memory and ran a disk check - which stood at 13% for a long time, and ended with a blue screen after it finished (not sure if it restarted or not, was doing something else).

Would appreciate any kind advice.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to run Windows Update and install all the updates available.
- Next is to install the latest BIOS version (ver. 204)

- If the same problem will persist do a clean install of the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia graphics card driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.

- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
- If the same problem will persist do uninstall/reinstall the wifi adapter as well.
