asus laptop screen goes completely dark

my screen goes completely dark when I turn off my laptop and turn it back on. It also does this if I plug in to recharge the screen goes completely dark and then I cannot use it. The brightness is up as high as I can get it.

Hopefully you have a spare monitor lying around that you can use. Connect the spare monitor and see if you are able to get a picture. THis should rule out the motherboard/gpu being bad. If the external monitor has the same issue, then you know the issue is with your mobo. If it does not have the same issue, your issue is with the laptop screen.

This happened to me. I simply increase the brightness when it was plugged on. The brightness may seem highest when it's not plugged, but its a different ball game while it is plugged
