Asus ROG 702 Display Issues

Hello,
A couple months ago I started having an issue with the display of my laptop. Occasionally when I would try to tilt the screen, the display would turn into colored static. When I restarted the computer it would be fine again.
Last night I was using my laptop on the couch and the display turned black. I tried restarting the computer and that did not work. It was completely black from the start, no ROG logo would show. I unscrewed the bottom casing and took out the battery and reseeded the RAM. I turned it on and it worked fine. A few minutes later, the colored static covered the screen. I restarted the computer, it was fine again, but when I went to YouTube, this would happen:

I restarted the computer, and now everything is working fine again haha. Clearly there is something wrong that is causing intermittent issues with the display. Does anyone have ideas of what the problem is, or things I can do to troubleshoot?
Thanks a lot for the help.

Solution
Sounds a lot like a loose cable, but, to be sure, try this...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.
