I bought a ASUS Transformer Book Chi 12.5-Inch T300CHI-F1-DB recently and I'm really liking it except for one problem. I want a spare charger and I can't buy one!

The T300 needs two chargers. One for the keyboard (standard mini flat) but it needs a second one for the main unit. This is a non-standard size and I can't find any part number for it. The numbers are too tiny (really tiny) to read.

Does anyone know how to get a charger for this machine? It is a cool transformer that lets me use it as a tablet or as a laptop. I love the keyboard and I love Asus (and am broken-hearted that they are leaving the PC business). The keyboard doesn't use much power at all, but the main unit runs down after about 3 hours. I ordered a few chargers that said they were for T300, but the plugs are too large!

Maybe there's a special charger for the T300Chi? The Chi is a special type that doesn't have any bloatware installed. Asus is a wonderful company but not very informative.

Does anyone have any clues about this oddball charger and where I can get one and make sure I'm getting the right charger. Most of the chargers are for the keyboard but the one I found for the T300 was wrong!

Any clues appreciated!

Ahh. Funky cable and, I think, requires a 12-v capable charger. I'll go look upstairs. There's one on my dresser top.

EDIT: Can't find the charger. You need one that will put out 12V if requested. Not always 12V; there's something in the cable that requests that. The charger would also charge a standard 5V phone and not make it explode. Do you need the cable, the wallwart, or both?

Don't understand "the plugs are too large." On the cable, or the charger? The charger had a normal wall-plug and a normal USB output. The cable had a normal USB-A connector and a funky Asus proprietary connector, if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Mine seems to be a TF300T, if that makes a difference.
And it was 15v? http://www.amazon.com/Power-Adapter-Transformer-Series-Tablets/dp/B00CFIDQZG/ref=pd_bxgy_147_img_z , for example.

Exact description of my laptop is: ASUS Transformer Book Chi 12.5-Inch T300CHI-F1-DB from Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Transformer-T300CHI-F1-DB-All-Aluminum-Detachable-Touchscreen/dp/B00T7XR888/. You can get the same laptop from Microsoft directly http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/ASUS-Transformer-Book-T300-Chi-Signature-Edition-2-in-1-PC/productID.314145300. But neither seller talks about the power supply. Or mentions that you need two power supplies:

1. The one I want a spare of. Maybe 19V, and the plug is round and smaller than any other device I can find (smaller than my Chromebook plugs). I don't have anything to measure it but maybe I need to buy a magnifying glass and micrometer. It has a normal US wallwart on one end and a round plug on the other end, but small! This plugs into the tablet unit.

2. The second charger is for the keyboard. Any Android charger will work and the battery on this lasts forever because it only uses bluetooth when I'm typing. There is a funky way you can run a cable from the tablet to the keyboard through the USB 3.0 plug, but you cannot charge the tablet through that port, only the tiny round port!

I think this is one-of-a-kind. Maybe I'll have to build a power supply, but I get nervous when I only have one power supply and I like to have one at home and one at the office and just carry the tablet with me.

PS: the link you gave me shows a completely different type of plug! What is with Asus???

That sounds right. Where did you find the rating? But my problem is still the plug that goes into the device.

UPDATE: the 19V helped a lot. I still can't find anything on Amazon, but here's somebody that seems to have the right information:

http://www.ebuyadapters.com/asus-ac-adapters-c-17/asus-transformer-book-t300chif1db-ac-adapter-charger-cord-33w-p-52880.html

Don't know anything about them, but this sounds right:

Output 19V 1.75A 33W
Plug Size 3.0mm * 1.0mm

3mm is tiny. All others I've seen are 4.5mm.

PS: except for the charger, I like this tiny laptop. It is small, the keyboard is good, and it runs Windows 10 like a charm. With 128GB internal and a 64GB SD card, there's enough space for what I want, which is web programming.

I have the same issue. Asus is doing a real disservice to its customers by not making one available. I am beginning to see some on Amazon, but not sure of the quality and not all are shipping yet.

Same issue!
Try:

http://www.accessoriesbank.com/19v-1-75a-33w-ac-adapter-charger-for-asus-t300-chi.html
or
http://www.amazon.ca/Taichi21-DH51-Transformer-T300LA-DH51T-0A001-00330100-EXA1206CH/dp/B00IEGV8BM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449465780&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+t300+charger

Also, Note your Model # and Serial # from the bottom of the keyboard.

Then, on the Asus website, go to Service > Support > (Ignore the first "Wer'e Here To Help" section) go to Contact Us - Call Us >1-800 numbers (free) - If they carry an adapter you can get the part # and where to get it (probably expensive).

Have Fun!

I'm not sure how this works, but here goes.

I love my T-300 CHI also, but the tablet portion is too flimsy and my screen cracked under almost no duress. ASUS said they would repair it under a One Time Incidental Damage Insurance during the first year of warranty, GREAT! They also said they would repair the damaged power cord; then I got the bill: over $300! Called back and they said "no prob with the screen, but the transformer was an 'attachment'. It would cost $100 minimum for any repair or replacement. Check online."

Here's where I found one cheap, though not exactly the same format, seems to be alright:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/391389998798?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

another:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-Adapter-Charger-For-Asus-Transformer-T300CHI-RHM5T06-T300CHI-DSM2T-CA/231872776482?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D36470%26meid%3D70d7ca2d92594265990d492f5e5f9193%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D391389998798

Both are on Ebay, and there are others that might work. First is $16, second is $9 with shipping. Haven't been able to check if they fit totally, plug and power requirements.

By the way, how did you get Windows 10 to work, and if you like it. (I'll look for another thread on this.)
