I bought a: ASUS U32VJ.

Had problems with the WIFI and I assumed maybe drivers were odd or Windows needed a repair. Nope.
So for each driver, I uninstalled via uninstall programs, uninstalled from device manager, deleted Intel roaming, i installed as run admin, and tried with and without compatibility for W7, and installed it out of programs just in hope (nope didn't work too):
The symptoms at home are:

*OK, Wednesday, Thursday (It dropped, re-connected and had no internet access, i tried to disconnect and it would not, i disabled and then re-enabled and it was ok) and Friday it was one and dropped twice in a space of 5 hours?

The symptoms at school are:

Connected, was on the internet for about 3 minutes then I had no more internet. I could not disconnect from router, disabling/re-enabling did nothing, rebooting did nothing. I was stuck at uni with this machine and could not get internet!

ASUS driver: V15.5.0.42 (Was worse, on the Tuesday (22/01/13) i received it, it connected, disconnected, would reconnect than say it had no internet access, tried to disconnect from my wifi and it would not). So i installed:

ASUS driver: V15.5.5.47 (Better at home, would go a good couple of hours without dropping, when it did all I had to do was manually disconnect and reconnect, at school however same issue, i had internet for 5 minutes and for the whole day i could get no internet.

I then install Intel's wifi driver: V15.5.6e64 (Installed 25th, much better at home, dropped once today? I installed it as run admin, compatibility for W7, out of programs/files folder. It dropped. So now I have done the same but without compatibility (I will find out about wifi at school on Monday, but I'm not going to hold my breath anymore).

Device manager also lists this:

Intel WiUSB - USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller - Windows code not load drivers code 31, hardware id: root\usbpalbus.

I've done all I think I can do. I'm tired with W8, I want to try to fix this! Please help! If not, I'm sending it back to amazon straight away. (I PREVIOUSLY HAD A: Acer Aspire TimelineU M3 - This had WIFI issues, after replacing drivers it dropped once in 5/6 days and reconnected instantly???? I got a refund because it was to big for me to carry around, I missed that)

So W8 has problem with WIFI for everyone too? This piece of crap, I like W8 (not the start screen)!

I am trying to post to Asus forum when I find one?

Thank you all in advance,

Daniel M.

Sorry forgot to mention:

At home there is 2 W7 laptops, smartphones. Never had this issue until with W8. So I'm certain it is not the router (although you can prove me wrong).

Thanks,

Daniel

When my brother received the packga, the box was open and they said they were making sure it was ok. Could it be that some knob head decided to play football? I dud run a check disk and it did something earlier today. Gonna google for software to test hard disk.

I got it from Amazon.

My brother only saw fit to tell me this today. :(
It arrives, box is clearly open (seal was not broken as I broke the ASUS seal). Guy says "Checked to ensure it was OK"?
Wish my brother would have said sooner!

Yep straight out the box issues.

Good thing this is Amazon and not some sh*te like PC World.

I'm want to try fix this before the option on refund/replacement (I need the laptop for school - haha I need to stand near a Eth port with a Eth cable in class, stupid eh)

I dont know if you have got this sorted out.

But For me the following thing worked :

Downloaded Latest Intel Pro Wireless Setup 15.6 64 bit version from Intel Website

Uninstalled Intel Pro Wireless Wifi driver from Control Panel

Restart PC ( This is Important )

Run the downloaded setup -> Select upgrade option which is recommended

Then Restart PC

This unfortunately didnt work.

So I uninstalled the Intel Pro Wireless 15.6 version which had installed.

This asked for a restart to complete installation.

But luckily what this did was to roll back the Wifi Driver version to 14.8.8.75 with driver date on 05/12/2011.

This resolved the issue completely !!!!

Also ensure that the Power Management is turned off.

I have been connected to the internet without any dropping for nearly an hour now.

Hope this will sort your issue too or anyone in future.
