ASUS U56E laptop shuts down suddenly when on battery

When the AC adapter is plugged in, I can work on the laptop indefinitely without any problems and the battery appears to charge up to 100%. The minute I unplug and run off of the battery alone, it turns off (not a normal shutdown, just powers down) once the battery hits about 95%. I have tried a new battery and still have the same issue. There is nothing in the power settings that would cause this behavior that I can see. I'm afraid that it will turn out to be a physical problem and I'll end up having to send it to ASUS for repair. It was a refurb and is still under the 90 day warranty. Any suggestions?

Thanx!

I ordered the replacement battery from Laptop Battery One. the cost was $35.
The replacement battery is an 8-cell (No. LB-AS31B-04400).
If it helps, the laptop is a refurb from Tiger Direct. Everything works fine, as long as I don't use the battery -and we brought this model because of the longer battery life...

Hi :)

TOO cheap for a decent quality battery (think around double that)

Return it ...

All the best Brett :)
