Question ASUS UM431D - System shuts down, won't power on again unless I unplug the battery and reconnect it.

My son has an ASUS ZenBook (UM431D), and lately he's been having an issue where it will shut off, and won't power back on. I've found that by removing the bottom cover, disconnecting the battery, then reconnecting it, it'll work again. Wondering if anyone has any insight on how to resolve this one. Laptop is out of warranty, so probably on my own here.
