Asus VG248QE Monitor for G751JT-CH71

So I recently bought this laptop in order to replace my old one, this time with 28 gigs of ram, 970 gtx. I'm sadden that I cannot play games above 60 hz So I'm looking at the Asus VG248QE Monitor so I can play 144 hz, My laptop comes with the display port so should I able to play at 144hz no problem?

If I am understanding you correctly, you're saying that you can't get more than 60FPS physically in terms of refresh rate?

If that's the case, and you CAN get more than 144Fps+ , then yes, using a DisplayPort cable, you should be able to notice the difference in smoothness, but ONLY if you get 144FPS+

Im asking if I can get screen res of 144hz on a external monitor from a laptop since laptops are not able to get 144 or even 120hz on its monitor. My model is the G751JT-CH71 with a 970m geforce. I would be using a display port cable.
