ASUS VivoTab Smart

I recently purchased a refurb vivotab smart tablet. I need to load a program on a multiple discs onto the Windows 8 tablet. I am having difficulty getting the tablet to recognize an external dvd player that holds the program. I have also tried connecting an external HD to the tablet in order to load the program. The ASUS does not see either the player or HD.
What am I missing? I have the appropriate adapters (I think I do) to utilize the micro usb and/or micro hdmi on the tablet.
I'd appreciate any help.

Which model vivotab did you get?
For instance the vivotab rt runs win8 rt which is not windows so you would need to find the correct drivers for your external drive. In addition if the program is a windows program the RT wont run it either (its not windows).

I'd suggest copying the files to a micro sd card and loading them that way.

The OS is the full windows 8, not the RT version. I'll try the copy to a micro sd card.
