Help me decide, I'm considering these two laptops, which one is better in your opinion:

Asus: i7 4510U, 12GB RAM (1x8GB + 1x4GB), 1000GB HDD, GT840m (2GB), 1366x768.

HP: i7 5500U, 8GB (1x8GB), 750GB, GTX 850m (4GB), 1920x1080.

Both of them are 15,6" laptops, price is almost the same (Asus is 40 Euros cheaper). Asus is from A55LN series, and Hp is HP Envy 15.

Thank you all :)

I would go with the HP Envy 15 for 40 Euros more primarily for the GT 850m and the 1080p screen. You can always upgrade RAM later, but you will not be able to upgrade the graphics chip which is soldered in and upgrading the screen (assuming there is a 1080p compatible screen for the Asus) will likely mean you need to bring it into a laptop repair store.

The difference in performance between the GT 840m and GT 850m depends on the game and also the CPU. For example, based on benchmarks in the following link the GT 840m has about 40% less performance than the GT 850m at 1366x768 resolution with medium graphics (click Compare) in Far Cry 4. For Alien Isolation @ 1080p with high settings, the GT 840m has about 50% the performance compared...

Watch Dogs @ 1366x768 with medium settings the GT 840m has about 50% the performance of the GT 850m. However, in Dragon Age: Inquisition @ 1366x768 & medium settings, the difference is only 4%.

Note that performance can depend on the CPU. You will see many "FPS" listed. Click on a particular "FPS" number to find out the laptop and it's specs that produced the result. A laptop with a quad core CPU will generally provide better performance than a dual core CPU if the game can take advantage of it.

While the GT 850m cannot play all games at 1080p even on low settings, I prefer to have a 1080p screen so that when I do things other than play games I can see more things on the screen at one time compared to a laptop with a 1366x768 resolution screen.
