I have been trying to fix the sound when connecting my computer to my TV. I have tried many things like, rolling back drivers and changing the setting for audio on my TV, but the sound just kinda cuts in and out for .5 to 2 seconds most (playing sound). I have connected to my older TV(using HDMI) and the sound works just fine so I've deduced that my TV is most likely the problem. Also the sound works just fine when playing on my PS3 with HDMI.

Here are my specs:

MB: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
GFX Card: SAPPHIRE 100352-3L Radeon HD 7950
TV: Vizio 47" E470VL

Edit:
Never mind, I fixed it by adjusting the resolution. Though maybe someone could explain how that makes any sense?

Even though you fixed it by changing the resolution the problem may have been related to the HDMI cable itself. There are quality issues with HDMI cables that only show up in certain circumstances; low output, bad grounding, handshake issues. These vary depending on the components connected and the cable and length used. Can drive you nuts. Many components and cables do not meet the HDMI standards. By reducing the resolution you may have eliminated an interference problem in the cable (lower resolution = less bandwidth reducing the interference).
