Aux cord from tv to earbuds/headphones

I need help figuring out how to control volume from the audio out port out of the back if a regular tv to ear buds connected to the other end. Some headphones work but the ones for the smartphones don't how can I fix this?

Well, as far as I know, you would be able to control the volume from the television remote itself.

Is the audio out of the TV variable?
Check the TV menu as you can sometimes change from fixed to variable.
