I am streaming movies through an android box through a overhead projector and use my Stereo system's Aux port but the sound is very soft and I have to crank my sound volume to Max to hear something. What can I do to get the sound better? I there any devices that I can use to increase the volume?
Thank you
Deon

If you get an AVR with HDMI you would connect the Android box to the AVR with HDMI. The HDMI out of the receiver connects to the projector.
The low analog audio output of the Android box becomes irrelevant since you not longer need it.
If you get a used AVR then make sure that the HDMI switching supports the native resolution of your projector.
Something like this should help
https://www.amazon.com/iBoost-800-Stereo-Amplifier-Booster/dp/B00CVDN2O0
but before you buy one you can try some other options.
  1. If you are running HDMI from the Android box to the projector and audio from the projector to the stereo then try running the audio directly from the Android box to the stereo (if it has analog audio outputs).
  2. An HDMI input selector with audio extraction would give you an analog (and digital) output that might be higher than from the projector.
  3. Make sure that the audio levels in the streaming app, Android box settings, and the projector are turned up.
  4. A used AVR with HDMI inputs might run you $150. Then you can run the HDMI out of the box into the AVR and the AVR HDMI out to the projector. Even in stereo the sound will be much better, you have less wiring, and you can add speakers for surround sound if you want to.

Thank you very much for the quick response. My system is set up as follows: HDMI from android box to Overhead projector. Then I have a audio cable from my android to my stereo system's AUX port as you mentioned in 1 above but the sound is very low. Will the AVR help with this connection because it is then only coupled to the overhead and not the stereo?
