The Islamic countries react like this to unimportant little issues like this, and then wonder why they're the center of attention when it comes to insulting groups of people. Like c'mon, you don't see people threatening to blow up cities for drawing Jesus or Moses.

I agree that they overreact, but a lil fyi...it's against their religion to draw Mohammad, so a more appropriate thing to compare that to would be...burning a bible?

Someone has the right idea. The spread of slander on Facebook is unimaginable. It has a grip on the youth of our society. A playground of hatred brewing more hatred. Freedom of speech is taken a little out of context with this crap. How on earth can a parent keep track of every text, tweet, or Facebook update? I'll tell you what. If my child (I don't have one... YET) was on Facebook texting FTW, WTF, etc... it would be on like Donkey Kong.

And... gay marriage is against against conservative Christians' religions, so it'd be totally cool if any Christian-majority censored their media like that. Oh wait...

when you attack black people, they call it racism. When you attack Jewish people, they call it anti semitism. When you attack women, they call it sexism. When you attack homosexuality, they call it intolerance. When you attack your country, they call it treason. When you attack a religious sect, they call it...hate speech. But when they attack the Prophet (PBUH), they want to call it freedom of speech.

Yeah i'm a muslim. Have some respect. People can avoid situations liek this easily by NOT drawing him. It's not like it's getting in people's way. People are ignorant.

Threatening people's lives is in no way a proper response to a sacrilegious comment.

Wow Toms is slipping. You guys realize that the ban has already been lifted right? It was lifted before you even put the article up. Seriously.

What happened to freedom of speech that includes images/ideas?
Why going against the herd of religion and state will get you where. Against there religion becomes a shield of convince. To be used at will, Christians have the ten commandments the first commandment; however, you do not see people reacting this way when it is broken for a reason. BTW when u burn a bible your not offending people, you offend its author. That is why there is no riots after your friendly neighborhood bible burning session. Yes gay marriage is against what the bible religion says, but not being gay. You can be gay and be a christian. If your a parent and let you kid use these things without supervision then you should not be a parent.
There is porn on the internet lets shut it off?
The person who drew the cartoon has a open contract on his head still.
I am surprised south park did not get this treatment.

yes but that's the typical response from muslim extremists... not every muslim is a extremist, i'd wish ppl stop generalizing. this is what happens when the press shows what they show.

a good example is the fact that there are more suicides in a year then there are homicides, but most people think the opposite because the press expose them to homicides way more then suicides

I didn't mean to come off as disrespectful with my comment, so sorry if I've offended anybody. Yes, I realize that it is against their religion, but I was just trying to point out that there are major overreactions that take place. I'm not religious, so I can't say I know what it's like, but I do know that I have grown tolerant of other people's religions, even though I entirely disagree with the concept. I just think they need to make a move and say "Alright, it's against our beliefs, but that's okay." So again, sorry if I've offended anybody; it was unintentional.

I second that..don't do it...easy resolution..what the hell is it that you get from doing it anyways ?..off course the only reason could be to make fun and ignite hatred..what else ?..thats exactly what is not allowed in any religion.

Ah yes, the generalization that all Americans know nothing about Islam nor Muslims if they are not Muslim. Fortunately I know the difference between an extremist and a moderate. I have been to a class or two. It is an interesting religion and a mostly peaceful one. Arabic can be a very ambiguous language though which can lead to people's ownm interpretation. Unfortunately it does not change the death threats that stem from this. Also, just to say I do not condone the drawings of your prophet at all by any means.

meh, trolls be trollin' and haters be hatin'

Sorry, but that was the first thing that came to mind. Really though people overreact to the dumbest things. People draw Muhammed(pbuh) to get attention and to provoke a response. Guess what? Actions like banning Facebook gets them attention, which in turn gives them their sought after erection.

The solution to hate speech? Tell them its not okay, try to educate people. You will succeed with some and fail with others. Ignore the others until they fade into obscurity while protecting yourself from violence. This is what Islam teaches.

Putting out hits on people is not okay and is an Arab cultural innovation ascribed to Islam. The only time violence is allowed in Islam, according to the Quran, is in self defense. Thats it.

Yes, I am also Muslim. I am not moderate nor am I extremist, just Muslim. Go in peace.

P.s. As a side note, being homosexual is not against Islam, homosexual intercourse is. Hence the homosexual Mosque in Canada.

This is precisely what I was getting at. The reason people continue to do such things are for the thrill of it. In reality, people do things to get reactions out of people. The more extreme the reaction, the more this action will be carried out. If they (meaning the extremists, not all Muslims) just sit back and ignore it, people will stop doing it, and move on to trollin' someone else. Then everybody is happy.
