battery issues aleinware m14x r2

i have an alienware m14x r2 had my charger and battery and mobo replaced 4 times while i was in warranty thats long over. i can only have my computer on if its plugged into the wall i thought about buying a new battery to see if it would charge, but i was wondering if there is a way to tell if it would charge anything before going out and buying a new battery. i was also wondering if there is some sort of external battery pack that i can just plug into the charging port and use on the go when i cant keep it plugged into a wall?

There is no viable way for testing if the laptop battery charging works other than getting a new battery. You can try acquiring the wear levels for your current battery by using software such as BatteryBar:
