battery maybe, hopefully

So my phone was working one min and the next minute it wasnt. I go to turn it on and it gets only so far until it turns off and then continues to vibrate like a pulse and the flash from the camera goes off. My phone is in perfect condition amd I have it for a little over a year. I ordered a new battery but does anyone know if that I the problem? Since it happened so suddenly I wasn't able to back up everything on it if this has happened to anyone please let me know what helped or what happened. Thanks!

Does it work with adapter plugged in? Is the battery bulged (an you spin the battery easily on the flat surface)?
If you had normal battery autonomy and all of the sudden it stops working than it is not the battery issue (most probably).
