Best Antivirus software?

I just did a new installation of win7 sp1 and want to know what would be the best antivirus and which version to install? Prefer a Free edition over a paid one but if its decently priced I will certainly consider buying one.
I will be web browsing, gaming, shopping, emails & downloading updates and torrents, ect.
Please answer only if you have actually used the software yourself and are not just going on all the website reviews.

Free antivirus does not work very well. they are just for trial bases with little features. If you want to protect your computer. then you should the antivirus.
The best antivirus in the market are: AVG and Norton. You can go with anyone of them.

If you are pro, McAfee commandline version is best.

i recommend buying nod32, i'm using it about 2 years and it catches everything.
