Best Camera to get for filming?

So I just started doing a Media Film course and of course I want to make videos (Short films, like you see on YouTube ya'know). I was wondering if someone could tell me what Camera would be best to get with a budget of £160, a camera with good focus and can record in 1080p. The ability to take decent picture would be a bonus too. Thanks.

The Camera I planned on getting originally/may still get: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Cyber-Shot-DSC-HX100V-Digital-Camera-Clear/dp/B004M4OV4Q

I am definitely NOT an expert, however I googled around as I've researched a bit in the past. It's SIMILAR to the one you first linked but I think it's a bit newer and better (2013?).

1080p, stereo video

Obviously not the best but for the price it's at least a really good starting point. I'd compare other cameras to this one.

*You might want to look at the "MAIN RIVALS" page of the review and then lookup those cameras as well. The Fuji HS50EXR looked amazing, but then it was too expensive when I went to Amazon.

That's not a DSLR. That is a bridge camera. Similar quality and sensor size to a small point and shoot, but with many more functions.

I don't really know where to begin with this

The "Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX100V " ?
Again, that is a bridge camera, not a DSLR. This particular Sony is a 4 year old model. There are better ones available today.

So...before focusing in on a particular model at Amazon...define a budget and use.
Then narrow it down to a couple of models.

I said I updated it so it doesn't say DSLR anymore. That's also why i'm asking people on this website as I'm not sure what to go for with so many options. My budget was £160, like I said. Suggestions is what I was looking for.

These are all far too expensive when using the camera search option. All £600+

You're using the wrong search criteria. But at £160 ($220), you're pretty limited.
However, there are many, many cameras at around that price. It probably won't be what you think it might be, though.

Well the camera I originally intended to buy is the same camera my friend owns, which is why I wanted it in the first place, as it's pretty much what I want (obviously I'd like better but budget restricts that) I just wanted to know if there was anything slightly better if I was willing to spend a little more money. I'm not trying to make anything high budget just some funny shorts with my friends (I wouldn't say YouTube has very high standards, of course there is some great stuff out there though).

So what's wrong with the camera I was going to get? Even if its 4 years old it gets the job done right? Or am I missing something?

Yes, it will work. I have a similar age, quality, and functionality Fuji HS10.
Continues to take great pics.

I would not buy a used one, though. Which is all that seems to be available from your link.

That's a good point, however there is one where the seller claims it is 'Like New'. I would prefer one I can buy completely new. Thing is I'm just not very good at finding these things. Which is why I came to the forums to see if anyone could help me find a more recent one with the same or better specs. Thanks

Thanks man, I'm glad someone was able to leave a helpful comment answering my question. In the end I decided to put more money in and go for a newer version of the original camera I showed. The Sony DSC HX300. It's a lot more expensive at £219 but I felt it was perfect for what I wanted so it would last me a long time. I seriously appreciate the comment though!
