Hey guys
I am looking for a new laptop, and was thinking of a lenovo edge 420, with intel hd 3000 (and later upgrading to hd 4000 with ivy bridge). however, toshiba has a 700 dollar laptop with a geforce gt 525 graphics chip. would this be worth the 200 dollar expense? and would the system still run cool, like at about 40C?

Don't buy a laptop thinking you are going to upgrade the CPU later. Laptop motherboards are usually very specific in the CPUs they support and new CPUs are expensive and difficult to change out. Very doubtful you can buy one with Sandy Bridge and update later to Ivy. Laptops are not desktops.

Really? ivy bridge will be supported by sandy bridge chipsets, pending an update. also, the last laptop that I saw without an upgrade-able CPU was a 1997 dell laptop with pentium 2. This is not he 90's
also, laptop cpus are easy to come by on ebay, just not the high end ones
