Best headphones for precision audio?

Hi!
My apologies for the double post, but I am looking for a pair of top tier headphones. Preferably under 300. I have been looking at headphones like the Phillips X2 Fidelio. I really want high end headphones for competitive gaming. I can't emphasize that enough. I also need it to be comfortable for hours upon hours of gaming.
Other than that, style, color, etc is not important.

Top tier headphones often imply a headphone amp because the impedance of the headphones is much higher than many devices can drive with any loudness and without distortion.

I would prefer something like the Turtle Beach Ear Force XP SEVEN! Great head phones under $300
