Best high-end PC gaming headset?

Recently i've been doing some research into this, but I simply can't make a choice without experiencing a headset first hand. I'm leaning towards the razer tiamat 7.1, but any other suggestions? I'm mostly looking for comfort and sound quality.

Okay i'll try my best but i will state, i don't wear headsets for gaming, I use them for making music. So my headsets i tend to look for might be what is called near field or flat signal, But i'm guessing that Gaming headsets tend to hadd EQ to ether the lows or highs, like a filter to make it sound better then it is.

Some things that would be good to know
Do you have a good sound card ?
Are you looking for 7.1 ?
Whats your price limit?
Do you want over the ear or on?
Open or closed = open means so your ear can breath, but does not stop sound from getting into the phones.

Sorry if i asked too much, just a good starting place, price and 5.1 / 7.1 plus open or closed really help with the best place.
