Hey everyone, my laptop is starting to break down, and I really need a new laptop. I was going to go for a macbook air, but you know, screw that because window rules. Anyways, I really need a laptop that can handle light-gaming, and probably just some window browsing and really, I just watch YouTube and Netflix, so. Anyways the cheaper the better, I'm not sure whether they have SSD's at this price point but an SSD included would be nice. Thanks!

What are you talking about? MX (GDDR5) versions of lower end-mainstream mobile GPUs (920m, 930m, 940m) were recently released to fit the low end-mainstream SKUs (920MX, 930MX, 940MX). Doubt there will be any Pascal parts anytime soon, if at all falling into that category for mobile. No real info available about a 1050m either.

better wait until the gtx 100m is released . this is bad timing for buying gaming notebooks.

and ofc 1050m is coming ... just be patient..

the Pascal is built on 16nm technology , very low power and perfect for notebooks.

GT1040m , 1030m , 1020m are coming

the 940mx are 28nm technology ...

expect the gtx 1050m to draw same power like gt940mx ...

gt1040m must come ...

as far as I know, only the 1060, 1070, and 1080 (no m) have been announced for laptops. And the current laptops with a 1060 start at around $1500. There's been no word on when or if a 1050 or 1040 will come out. and even if a 1040 or 1030 comes out, you have to start wondering if it'll be as good at gaming as say a GTX950m or a step up to a $750 GTX960M laptop.

I know what I am talking about as well from 20 years experience in the market .

If you dont like what I say just dont take it . it is a free world . you are not here to lecture people nor to judge them.

Thank you very Much.

This was about a $600 laptop. You then offered up $1500+ laptops and told the person to wait. Then you proclaim knowledge of products that do not/did not exist. Yes, there will be next generations of entry level graphics solutions, available. It doesn't take rocket science to figure that out. But no one outside of Nvidia knows what they will be be based on, what they will be called, or when they will be made available. So, no you don't know what you're talking about.

Your "they must come..." "be patient..." rants are called patronizing. It's really that simple. It is a free world, absolutely, Hence me "lecturing and judging" you on your lack of knowledge. I've been doing this since the late 80's, so if you're 20 years into experience, I am Elvis.

No I did not Offer $1500 machine . I as talking about the new gen 10 mobile actually I even said 1070 .. That was a general talking .

in the PC market there are critical months you never buy anything in them , just before the new tech is to be released . That is 2 months before that .

People are best to avoid buying in that interval unless it is Urgent . If he can wait few weeks it is better for him .

and all my life people Thanked me from saving them from buying old GEN just before new GEN are to be released .

If he cant wait he will just ignore my advice and buy , no harm done ..

but If he can he will thank me later ..

even if some expectations did not happen , it is a bad advice to "hide" this from people when giving advice , no you tel them : new chips are coming soon wait few weeks better than regretting .

you are not the one who judge my lack of knowledge . again you are here to give advice not to say to other people "you lack knowledge"

GTX 1050 is coming and 1040 will follow . Nvidia will not leave Gaps and will not ignore 16nm for lower watts Notebooks .. this is experience .

and when some one gives you a link , dont say "weak sources" ...

This is my proof

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-gtx-1050-ti-gtx-1060-for-notebooks/

calling it weak source will not help you much .

and please stop attacking my knowledge and address the subject .

if you keep attacking my knowledge I will not reply again.

Thank you very much .

Even still, if a GTX1060 laptop is at $1500, a GTX1050Ti laptop is very unlikely to get down near the $600 range. My point is if you need to wait for a GT1020 or GT1030 to get a $600 laptop, one, it may take a while before it gets here and two, would a GT1030 be much better than a GTX950M or GTX960M that you could get right now?

And really, a GT1020 or GT1030 may never come as at that point, the tradeoff for a discrete video card vs a better CPU starts to favor the CPU. Consumers in that $600 price range buy more powerful CPUs for the most part, at least here in the U.S. Consumers buying dedicated gaming laptops tend to have much higher budgets. This is readily apparent by looking at the number of laptop manufacturers choosing to integrate a discrete Geforce 920M or 930M solution... If there was a lot of demand, there would be a lot of models to choose from.

If he can wait , is better , those GTX 950M , GTX 960M will not disappear .. I just told him to wait a month thats it . if he cant wait fine he can buy now ... I am just reminding him of gen 10 ...

Let's keep this discussion civil, okay?

At this point in time the following 15.6" Acer E5-575G-5341 for $599 is probably the best laptop for games within the OP's budget. It has a Core i5-6200u, nVidia GTX 950m and a 1080p screen. The GTX 950m should be decent enough to play many game that are not very GPU intensive at 1080p with medium graphic settings.

With regards to low end nVidia Pascal GPUs... they will likely be coming out, but it is unknown when that will be since to the best of my knowledge nVidia has not make any official announcements.

Don't get an APU even with new generation models their performance is rather poor:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Bristol-Ridge-in-Review-AMDs-A10-9600P-Against-the-Competition.168477.0.html

Here's the quad core 9600P and it just can't compete with the low end i5s

Moreover its iGPU is aceptable but not even close to a good dedicated GPU

Somebody said that you might wait for the GTX 10xx series but that wait will involve some months because they release the high end models first and the mid range cards second
