I have a the following components:
ASUS Maximus ROG Motherboard
Nvidia 1070
Yamaha RXA720

I recently started a trial to Tidal HiFi and want top see what the top end settings sound like. I currently Toslink my motherboard to the receiver. As I understand it, that cable won't support the HiFi setting. What are my best options? Do I need to go the sound card route?
Thanks,
Mark

If you can find a sound card that supports 24-96 over optical or coax digital then that would work.
Other options.
1. Try using HDMI.
2. Use that analog output of the PC (not good sounding but will work)
3. Get a USB to coax converter that supports 24-96 (highest you can go with the Tidal Windows app).

4. Get an external USB DAC. If you get one that fully supports MQA then you will be able to stream even higher res files and get the other advantages of MQA.
