best value $500 13-16" screen laptop for general use - no gaming

Hello- first time posting here and could really use some help- I'd like some opinions as to a few "best value" laptops for around $500. No touch. Mostly emails, browsing, Word, minor photo editing- basic college student use. Lots of smallish documents- college papers, articles, etc. The poor thing is likely to get some rough use, too. Ideas?? Thanks.

Might also want to consider an ssd upgrade to this laptop which would still put you under 500dollars
