Question Black screen after replacing it

So recently I accidentally cracked my screen. I replaced it myself, and everything was going well until I try to boot up my phone. The phone turns on, the backlight works, the touchscreen works, but the display stays black. I can't see anything but a black screen, and I can't even connect my phone to a computer because I can't see what I'm tapping. Any ideas? The flex is properly connected (I think) and the screen is completely new. What should I do? What went wrong?

Edit: I also noticed that the flex picks up a lot, a LOT of heat. Is this normal?
