Black screen help and keyboard not working

I'm trying to fix my father's laptop and I tried restoring it. One of us hit the power by mistake and all we get is a black screen, and the keyboard is not working. His laptop is asus from qvc. The only thing that works is the mouse.

If the laptop is KIA the keyboard won't work but you said mouse is working. Is it the laptop's trackpad or an external mouse. Can you see the mouse' arrow on the screen? And have you tried taking out the battery and restarting with just the power from the AC adapter?

The laptop is an asus. The mouse is external,and I tried taking out the battery and I still got a black screen.
