Black screen on laptop

I tried to display my hp laptop on my tv using an hdmi cable but was unsuccessful. Now that i have unplugged everything i cant see my screen but can here the laptop running. HELP

I am assuming you have detached the TV and the HDMI cable. Otherwise it may not run on the display with any of that attached.

If all is no longer attached, then you may wish to try opening up the laptop and making sure the displays internal cable is not pinched, bend, loose, detached or damaged. If none of this applies, then I would try turning off the laptop and attach an external monitor (not a TV). Attached the external monitor when the laptop is 'off' and then turn on the monitor, and finally turn on the laptop. If you get the screens display on the external monitor, your attached one may need replacing. If the external monitor still shows nothing, the problem may well be your graphics card.
