Blu-ray vs 1080p upconvert

Finally went and got myself an HD TV (1080p) and am now curious if it's worth spending the money on a Blu-ray player or just go with a standard player that upconverts to 1080p.

Thoughts?

Blu ray will be the new standard, and you cannot play blu ray on a standard player. Yes, it is worth it.

yep, went with the Blu-ray player and love it so far.
