blue screen redux

this really weird thing is happening to my laptop. every time i insert a USB device on my laptop (on any of the USB ports) it would just freeze and turn into blue-screen. EVERY TIME. i tried everything windows said about fixing the blue-screen problem (http/windows.microsoft.com/en-ph/windows7/resolving-stop-blue-screen-errors-in-windows-7) its really annoying. if you have any info or advice please feel free to share it. thanks for your time.

-Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Service Pack 1
-Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz
system memory - 4GB
Graphics device 1 - Intel (R) HD Graphics Family

Update the driver for your USB controller. Also, check event viewer and look what the fatal error was. HP should have the drivers on the support website. A quick google can also get you non-OEM generic ones..
Also, is this limited to a particular USB device or any? A particular type? mass-storage, peripheral?
