There's still light when it rains. :p

I'm more concerned of the possibility that a large gust of wind rips the umbrella - and your phone - out of your hand... plus the possibility of umbrella theft as a result. :(

I can imagine people wishing to fork out a little more for such things on their cars as opposed to something as fragile as an umbrella. Now, a large parasol - the sorts you find at pubs - might make more sense...

Let me guess, you are one of those latitites who resides up at like 30 or 40 degrees north... Hey not everyone has your mild weather and 5 months of overhead sun...
