Bootable Imaging/Backup Software

I currently use Acronis Backup and Recovery 10. Pretty old, but still does the job. Looking into new backup and imaging software. The big thing I am looking for is that I can burn it to a cd or usb and just boot to it to image the system. Don't really want to have a program that I have to use within the operating system.

It would be good if the program was compatible with as many operating systems as possible, but it would mostly be used with Windows 7 and 8. Any one has any recommendations?
