I'm trying to connect my Sony Bravia TV to my old LG HT202SF-A5 Home Theater. I want to play movies using my TV (since it has USB and HDMI ports) and use the Home Theater as speaker instead of the TVs but I can't seem to have luck in this. I have no idea what to do. Please help if someone knows how to. I can only play from the LG with audios but when I play from the TV, nothing comes out just video of course. I tried to enable the external speaker from the TV settings but still no luck.

Thanks in advanced if anyone could help!! I attached whats behind my TV and old home theater by the way.

Solution
That's correct.

Those Home Theater boxes are very limited, not expandable, doesn't play well with other components.

The proper way to do this is a modern AV Receiver at the center of your entertainment system.
Problem: Most TV cannot pass surround information from TV HDMI port to external speakers, stereo only.

For stereo connection then, TV's audio out/headphone out to LG Aux/LineIn etc.

To do surround, say from a Roku box hooked up to TV HDMI, it needs a second Toslink cable from Roku to LG. LG MUST have a Toslink or SPDIF (coax version of Toslink) input in order to play surround OTHER than its built-in disc.
