my antenna piece broke off my tv, can i reuse the same piece to fix it

If you have to ask, probably not.

U may have to buy an external ATSC tuner to compensate.

If you broke the FF jack antenna connection on your TV it's not possible to repair (the part is welded on).
You can get a new tuner board for the TV or use an external ATSC tuner that would connect to an HDMI input. You need a tuner not just a converter box (these usually don't have HDMI out).
Since many of these offer DVR functions with the addition of a drive you might find that to be a plus. Some even have multiple tuners so you can record on program and watch another. The best tuners are the Tivo and Channel Master. Price range is very wide.
