Broken Hp laptop fan I think?

So I have a hp compaq cq61 relatively old model I don't think they make them anymore, I've had it about 5 years now and recently my cooling fan had been rattling and whirring really loudly and took its time to cool down, and so yesterday I blew into it and as soon as I did that the loud (main?) fan stopped but the other one continued... Has my main fan gone? What I'm not sure about is that my laptop didn't give me any warning of a broken fan and it ran perfectly normal but I chose to shut it down and let it rest. Is it safe to run my laptop for short periods of time? I am a busy person and have to check my emails regularly and it's much harder to do this on my phone, I have ordered a can of compressed air to give it a shot before sending it off to fix it... What could have happened to my fan?

Why do think you have more than 1 fan? I don't think that is the case.
