Broken laptop screen

I had a laptop with a broken screen and had it connected to my TV with a VGA cable because I didn't have the money for a new screen but I ended up getting a new laptop for cheap and i swapped the hard drive from the old laptop to the new laptop and recently i wanted to hook up the old laptop up to the tv again but it just shows NO SIGNAL ive tried literally everything , any solutions ?

Hi,

When you tried to connect the old laptop into your TV using VGA connection did you have a HDD in it because you mentioned that you've installed that HDD into the new laptop you've acquired right? If there's a HDD installed and there's no display, unplug the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard then connect your external display and you should be able to see anything that it display since your laptop will use TV as it's default monitor.
